Museum Tweestromenland

Discover life between the Maas and Waal rivers!

The Land of Maas and Waal is a unique region with a remarkable history. At Museum Tweestromenland, you can learn more about how the people of the Maas and Waal lived, resided and worked. The exhibition traces the region’s history from prehistoric times through the Roman era to the development of the area in the second half of the last century. Its isolated location between these two mighty rivers has shaped the social, economic and cultural development of the area.

The museum is not just about the past, but also connects with the present and even the future. In addition to the permanent exhibition, there is a temporary exhibition every year. These exhibitions deepen, broaden and surprise, and often feature contemporary art as a striking highlight. Children are encouraged to get actively involved, such as fishing for ‘Did-you-knows’ and simulating a flood themselves in the model. Fascinating talks and concerts are regularly on our programme.

Round off your visit with a nice cup of coffee in the museum café.

Our museum is housed in the former St Elisabeth’s Convent next to the church in the centre of Beneden Leeuwen.
